About Vermont Fiber Mill & Studio

Mill & Studio

In the 1990s, Ed and Debbie Bratton worked in IT for a Fortune 500 company. Fast forward ten years found them raising alpacas at Maple View Farm, their 100 acre farm in Brandon,Vermont. And loving the change! From the original 3 alpacas, Maple View Farm is now home to over 30 alpacas.

Out of their own need to process fiber from their animals as well as a desire to keep their processing local, the Brattons opened the Vermont Fiber Mill & Studio on the farm in 2012.  A partnership with Jen & Ian Lutz of Cas-Cad-Nac Farm in Perkinsvilee, Vermont, the mill offers custom processing of fiber into high quality batts, roving, yarn and felt using modern equipment that efficiently processes large and small batches as well as individual fleeces.  Some of the equipment, like the FeltLOOM and Strauch carder, are available for customers to rent time on to produce their own products.

VFM&S also hosts fiber related workshops including wet felting, needle felting, handpainted dyeing and much more for adults, young adults and children.

The mill is open to visitors by appointment.  Visitors will see fiber in various stages of production and may also visit the farm store for finished goods.

The mill and farm are located at 185 Adams Rd, Brandon,VT.
